Volleyball is pretty easy to learn. It can be played indoors or outdoors and can be played by almost anyone of any age. The rules are pretty much the same for indoor and outdoor volleyball. Outdoor often requires less people.
The first thing to do before playing volleyball is getting your equipment. Pretty much all you need is a volleyball, a net, kneepads, and a water bottle. You can get this stuff at any sports store or other places such as Wal-Mart. A lot of nets have lines to mark where the boundaries are for the court. On a beach volleyball court, each side is 8 meters by 8 meters. If you are just playing in your back yard, you do not need to be exact.
You will need to know the basics of how to play volleyball. It is pretty easy to learn. The objective of the game is to serve the ball and return the ball. Do not ever let the ball hit the ground on your side, but try to get it to hit the ground on your opponent’s side. Do not hit a ball that is out of bounds.
The next thing you need to do is get your players. You need at least six players for a real game, however, if you are just playing a backyard game, you can have has little or as many players as you wish. Try not to get too many people playing, you don’t want to get the court too crowded. You can rotate players in if you wish. The person in the back right is the server.
Serve the ball. Serving is hitting the ball to the other side. You can either bump (bouncing the ball off your arms), set (hitting the ball off your fingertips), or spike (smacking the ball to the other side with one hand).
